Authenticity & Flexibility
ParisLocated near the Élysée Palace, between the Arc de Triomphe and the Palais du Louvre, this major restructuring project has benefited from a substantial renovation and extension of its premises, both within its offices and across its outdoor area, which now features a spacious, lushly landscaped courtyard. Initially built by prominent merchants and later sold to the Compagnie Française des Métaux, which established its offices there in 1918, this building—situated amidst several historic monuments and subject to current regulations—first owes its charm to its authentic Art Deco moldings and ornaments on its typically Haussmannian facade. It then captivates us by revealing a semi-circular English-style staircase serving the first four floors, representing the only vertical circulation preserved from its origins.
Its restructuring across a total floor area of 1,600 square meters offers optimized, flexible, and bright layout options and working comfort, while harnessing naturally present resources thanks to technical equipment concealed in the basement. Bringing the building up to safety and accessibility standards has likewise not been overlooked.

This is followed by the arched side entrances used to distribute the building, notably thanks to an elevator added in the 1960s, as well as the majestic tree-lined courtyard now featuring an eco-friendly 83 cubic meter prefabricated wooden beam structure along its L-shaped courtyard facade, accommodating a minimum of 200 users from then on. Indeed, the guiding principle aimed to reintegrate the building into its environment and era, to enhance its heritage while modernizing and greening the structure with a focus on sustainability.
“A wood-frame extension and the integration of greenery in the heart of the block in Paris’s 8th arrondissement help bring new workspaces to life. The cascading terraces offer outdoor spaces at every level and meet the challenge of the office of tomorrow.”
