Bordeaux Identity
BordeauxProviding the people of Bordeaux with new architectural forms based on the familiar language of the city center, enabled by a more flexible and personal context. This is the challenge of this construction project on a new and active plot, with a focus on unity and sustainability. The volumes located in three distinct areas of the plot follow a hierarchy of heights, and their articulations seek to make the project’s urban composition legible and natural, while initiating the principles of materiality and facade design.
Thus, the development and enhancement of the Bordeaux identity in this study allows for a creativity and harmony resulting in openwork facade designs featuring continuous series of arcades or grids, which ensure maximum natural lighting while providing protection against the elements thanks to a wind-breaker effect. Continuity between the different lots is highlighted by the choice of natural stone, while respecting the aesthetic of the surrounding plots.

“Offering the people of Bordeaux new architectural forms based on the familiar language of the city center.” The project develops a coherent architectural language where each plot asserts its individuality while contributing to a shared identity. Designed on the principle of “similar yet different,” the buildings play with variations in shapes, rhythms, and tones inspired by Bordeaux’s stone architecture.
The facades thus feature a palette of mineral nuances that capture light differently and accompany the project’s scale transitions. Arcades, grids, and openings circulate from one lot to another like a game of correspondences, creating a permanent dialogue between the buildings.
This approach anchors the project in the continuity of the Bordeaux landscape while offering a contemporary interpretation of its codes, balancing unity and diversity.
