Sea Side, Mountain Side
France, Roquebrune - Cap-MartinDesigned from the inside out, this project ensures an exceptionally high quality of living deeply connected to its surroundings. Thanks to a diagonal layout of the interior spaces, every home benefits from two remarkable, far-reaching views—toward both the sea and the mountains—slipping through the staggered arrangement of the surrounding buildings. The design takes full advantage of the topography, offering tailored solutions to the sloping terrain set within a Mediterranean climate. Wide outdoor staircases wrap around pine trees planted directly in the ground, drawing the park’s lush greenery inward in the spirit of classic Riviera estates. The identity of the site unfolds at pedestrian scale. In Roquebrune, urban voids and interstices define the landscape, inviting exploration of more intimate pockets and encouraging leisurely strolls. Small plazas, courtyards, passageways, and setbacks form a network of cool, open spaces. This dialogue with open space is reinterpreted through patios along the Rambla, bringing air into the new urban fabric while reinforcing its connection to the park. The alignment of the four buildings and the continuous commercial frontage bring harmony and balance to this new stretch of the city.
“Inside and out, the spaces are exceptionally generous, each offering sweeping views toward both the sea and the mountains.”
The distinct design of each entrance hall gives every building an instantly recognizable identity, fostering a stronger sense of belonging for residents.
Conceived as true extensions of the architecture, these entryways enhance the clarity of the project and elevate the everyday experience. Color plays a vital role here: it creates unique atmospheres, interacts with shapes and materials, and serves as a subtle landmark along the residential journey. Through its shades, contrasts, and ability to reflect light, color helps transform each hall into a welcoming, vibrant, and memorable space, all while preserving overall harmony across the development.
